Adaptive lighting in transformable spaces thanks to Adquio + Casambi

The challenge

During the modernization of one of its buildings in Ireland, a well-known international consulting firm set out to implement a lighting system that would accompany the architectural versatility of the space. In particular, their large conference room, designed to be divided into one, two or three independent spaces by movable walls, required highly flexible lighting control.

Although they had Casambi as the control system and RGB luminaires, a key operational problem arose: the preconfigured lighting scenes could not automatically adapt to the physical changes in the room. When moving walls transformed the layout of the space, the lighting did not respond correctly, leading to confusion, configuration errors and a less-than-fluid user experience.

What they needed was a system that would detect in real time the configuration of the space and automatically adjust the lighting in each zone.

The solution

Casambi’ s integration with Adquio’ s intelligent control technology provided the perfect answer to this challenge.

Integration of movable walls with Adquio

Thanks to the capabilities of Adquio Lite and Adquio Mini iOS, the mobile walls were connected to digital inputs that report in real time whether they are deployed or collected. Thus, the system knows exactly how the space is structured at any given moment.

Dynamic lighting scenes

With this information, Adquio Lite automatically reconfigures the lighting scenes in Casambi, adapting the atmosphere of each zone without technical intervention. Whether the room is completely open or divided into several sections, the lighting is automatically and consistently adjusted.

Local control via touch screens

Installed 4-inch touch screens were installed in each zone, with customized interfaces. These allow users to adjust color and light intensity independently and easily, ensuring that each zone operates autonomously and without interference.
